What is the best way of finding a staff member?  Should I use a recruiter, should I do it myself?  What are the legislative issues I need to know about?  Recruitment 101 will look at the pros and cons of different recruitment methods and using different media to get the best result.

Interviewing 101
What questions should I ask?  Interviewing can be as stressful for candidates as for the interviewer.  Interviewing 101 will show you how to design questions to get the right information from a candidate, when you should use tests and how to use reference checks.

Employment Agreements
 What sort of employment agreement do I need?  When is a casual actually permanent?  What does the 90 day probationary period mean?  Employment Agreements 101 will help you to navigate your way through this legislative minefield.  We will look at how the language you use in an agreement impacts on the way your employee thinks about you and why restraints of trade clauses may not protect you at all.

Staff Handbooks 101
What policies do I need in my workplace?  Do I need a harassment policy?  How do staff know what is acceptable behaviour?  Staff Handbooks 101 could also be referred to as Code of Conducts 101.   In this session you will learn about the vast array of policies that you could have in your workplace e.g. vehicles, harassment, phone use; and how to implement policies.

Induction 101
How do I ensure that the new staff member is best able to succeed at their job?  Induction 101 will look at how to design an induction for a new staff member, when using a “buddy” will work and when it won’t, and how to ensure the best start possible.

Performance Appraisals 101
How do I set goals and measure performance?  How do I balance the length of time with the value that it adds to the organisation?  Performance Appraisals 101 will look at the principles of performance appraisals – why we do them.  We will look at different methods – how we do them.  We look at how to make a process that is quick and easy and adds value to the organisation.

Discipline 101
What do I do to handle discipline and poor performance?  Discipline 101 will provide you with an overview of the legislative requirements, and a practical “how to” resource.
